DOUBLE SALT VARIATIONS

Double Salt Variations was written in January 2007 for DUO.

The title reflects the fact that the theme is distributed between the two pianos and that throughout the piece, the material is shared in much the same way.

The piece is structured thus:

Tema — Maestoso ed intenso ♩ = 96
Var. 1 — Molto vivace e nervoso ♩ = 120
Var. 2 — Molto Allegro ♩ = 126
Var. 3 — Sognando ♩. = 42
Var. 4 — Largo 𝅘𝅥𝅮 = 56
Var. 5 — Moderato, accelerando subito (inesorabile)
Var. 6 — Triunfale 𝅗𝅥 = 52
Tema — Tempo primo (poco più lento) ♩ = 50

The theme is drawn from a very famous and well-known song from 1925 whose refrain suggests a kind of social fusion around a hot drink.
